Please Don’t Ride Bikes and Skateboards on Sidewalks, City Asks

Cranbrook, BC (May 4, 2017) – Public safety is behind the City of Cranbrook’ s call asking cyclists and skateboarders to please not ride on City sidewalks – especially in the downtown.

Over the last few years, the City has received a number of calls from the public reporting injuries after collisions between pedestrians and cyclists and skateboarders.   There have also been a number of reports of near misses.

The City of Cranbrook boasts an amazing network of paved pathways, like Rotary Way, through the community and has a great skateboard park at Balment Park close to Western Financial Place.  Riders and boarders are strongly encouraged to make use of these facilities to help keep our sidewalks safe.
