Transportation and Access

Conveniently located on major highway, rail and air networks, Cranbrook is a regional transportation centre. One interprovincial and two international highways converge on the City, connecting Cranbrook's 15 trucking firms to the Trans Canada Highway at Golden, to southern Alberta and British Columbia and to major centres in Montana, Idaho and Washington.

Nearest Airport:  Canadian Rockies International Airport (15km from Cranbrook) with scheduled service to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

Canadian Pacific provides freight service to centres across Canada, while Burlington Northern and Union Pacific Railways serve US markets. The Cranbrook Airport handles small aircraft, jet aircraft and helicopters. Air Canada operates daily service from the airport with connections to major Canadian and US carriers in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

Connections with major routes - Highways #93, #95, and #95A - North/South. Crowsnest highway #3 is excellent for east/west travel through B.C. and southern Alberta.

Highway #93 - Route - North/South
Type – Paved, 2 lane
Connections - Crowsnest #3, Highways #95 and 95A.  Highway #93 takes northbound travelers to Radium, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper; to the south, it leads to Kalispell and Missoula, Montana.

Highway #95 - Route - North/South
Type – Paved, 2 lane
Connections - South to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Spokane, Washington.  Highway #95 leads north through the Columbia Valley to Radium, connecting with Trans Canada Highway #1 at Golden B.C.

Connections - Crowsnest #3, Highways #93 and #95.  Highway #95A leads to the Cranbrook Airport and to the Bavarian City of Kimberley
