** Stage 1 Outdoor Water Use Regulations In Effect - Wednesday, September 11, 2024
** IMPORTANT NOTE: If you live in a gated community or in a mobile home park in the City of Cranbrook, your watering day is determined by the individual address of each unit, NOT the physical address of the entire property.
In Cranbrook there are year-round, assigned days for outdoor water use in place to help high demands on our municipal water system. This allows the system to keep up with the demands for irrigation and commercial use, the ability to store water for future use (i.e. in case of local fires), and to provide clean drinking water to the community. These measures help us use water wisely so that we can continue to supply sufficient water for all the needs of Cranbrook residents.
Outdoor residential, commercial, and industrial use of municipal water are regulated through the new Outdoor Water Use and Regulation Bylaw No. 4091, 2022. For information on how City operations are managed to support convseration efforts view the Outdoor Water Use and Regulation Managment Policy.
Vegetable gardens and edible plants are exempt during Stages 1 - 3. Individuals and groups, such as the Community Garden, are able to water vegetables and other edible plants during watering times everyday of the week, except Wednesdays.
To apply for an
Outdoor Water Use Exception Permit please submit your completed application to Engineering and Development Services, located at 1212 2nd Street North, for processing.
