Brent Carver - 1993 Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical for “Kiss of a Spider Woman”
Brent was born and raised in Cranbrook and has appeared on stage and screen as an acclaimed actor/singer. In Canada, he is widely known for a variety of stage and film roles, including The Wars, Lilies, Larry's Party, Elizabeth Rex, Millennium and Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love.
Internationally, he is best known for his performances on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman (for which he won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 1993), Fiddler on the Roof and Parade. Carver originated the role of Gandalf in the stage production of The Lord of the Rings and has appeared in several Soulpepper Theatre Company productions such as The Wild Duck and Don Carlos.
Carver also played 'Leo' in CBC television series Leo and Me, which ran two seasons - 1977 and 1978. Michael J. Fox played Leo's nephew in the series.
