Request for Service – Bylaw Services
The Bylaw Services department works to promote compliance with the City's bylaws. These services are primarily accomplished through one-on-one interactions, public education and awareness programs, and if needed, enforcement. Bylaw Enforcement Officers follow up on service requests related to bylaw infractions such as noise, domestic animals, parking, business licenses, nuisance properties. Concerns on City property relating to social issues, and tenting or encampment issues can also be reported to Bylaw Services.
Bylaw Services does not manage concerns around wildlife. Any concerns about wildlife can be directed to the Province of BC at the RAPP Line (1-877-952-7277).
How to Contact Bylaw Services
Bylaw Services is not an emergency response service. If there is an emergency situation that requires police, fire, or ambulance, please phone 911.

Bylaw Services business hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm. If you call and leave a voicemail, please leave your name, phone number, and a brief description of your issue.
If you are able to provide all the details required for the Bylaw Enforcement Officer to investigate your concern, the Bylaw Enforcement Officer will not contact you until after they have attended to the matter. Please be assured we have received your request, it will be triaged, and you will be advised of the outcome.
How a Request for Service is Processed
A request for service is not an emergency response. All requests for service are placed into a calls-for-service system that forwards the concern to the appropriate department. Concerns that are a potential public safety issue will be dealt with as a higher priority.
Once a Bylaw Enforcement Officer has concluded their investigation into your concern, the information is entered back into the system for tracking purposes. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer will then contact you with the results of the investigation.
Filing a Request for Service: What We Need From You
Before we can act on your request for service from a Bylaw Services Officer, we will require your name, address, and phone number, and the specifics of your request/concern (ie. the address of concern and property owner, if known).
