The Cranbrook Aquatic Centre is a multi-use aquatic playground that offers such amenities as an eight lane pool, a nineteen person hot tub, including a wave pool. There is also a steam room, dry sauna, one metre spring board, rope swing, and water slide. The lane pool is equipped with stairs and a chair lift, and is kept at 83°F; a perfect temperature for either swimming lengths, or exercising in. The leisure pool is equipped with several overhead spray features, a rain drop water feature, and has a shallow water bubble pit. The leisure pool also has a beach style entrance, which allows for a very easy entrance or exit. It is kept at 86°F, a temperature that may be more comfortable for young children or to do a lower intensity activity in. This facility also includes a viewing area where health regulations allow street clothes to be worn.
Pool Program Descriptions Adult Lanes and Leisure Adult lanes and leisure is available to swim laps, exercise, water walk, hot tub and enjoy the facility at their leisure. This runs during all operational hours. The main pool and leisure pool are both available with the exception of the leisure pool being unavailable during Swim Lessons. There will often be more than one lane available, however the following times will be restricted to one available lane: Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 11 am - 12 pm Parent and Tot A time where caregivers with toddlers can come and enjoy the water in the leisure pool. Enjoy our tot slide, water toys and water features. Expect to share the leisure pool and hot tub with lots of little kids during this time. Waves and slide are left off. Family Swim A time set aside for families with young children to enjoy the warm and shallow water of the wave pool without the crowds. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 16 years. Waves and slide are left off. Public Swim All facilities will be open including the main pool, leisure pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna. Other water features will be open and running periodically throughout the swim as well, including the bubble pit, rain drop, waves and slide. Swim Lessons Organized instructional programs and lessons are being provided. Priority for space will be given to our instructional programs therefore most of the facility is not accessible for public use. There is no access to the leisure pool and much of the lane pool will be occupied as well. Waves and slide are left off. Shallow Aquafit Shallow water aquafit has the benefit of providing excellent cardio, strength and flexibility training. Aquafit is low impact and stress on the body and is excellent for those who experience joint issues and want to improve in weight bearing activities. This class takes place in the shallow end of the main pool. Deep Aquafit Deep-water training provides a unique and open environment free from gravity and impact. Classes will incorporate cardiovascular and muscle conditioning exercises. This is a challenging workout for both skilled and unskilled aquatic fitness participants. It is recommended that participants utilize the buoyancy belts (available in the equipment room), however is not mandatory. This class takes place in the deep end of the main pool. Joint Mobility Helps to relieve pain, maintain or increase range of motion, stengthen weak muscles and improve circulation. This class focuses on stretching and flexibility, as well as muscle strengthening at slow speeds. This class is for those seeking injury rehabilitation, arthritis joint therapy or those wishing to improve their strength and range of motion. This class takes place in the wave pool. Bootcamp Aquafit Dive into high-energy exercise with our Bootcamp Aquafit class! Get ready to crank up the cardio, boost your endurance and increase your stamina. The instructor will be encouraging and motivating all participants in a bootcamp style. This class takes place in the deep end of the main pool during the evenings, and in the shallow end of the main pool on Saturdays. Children under the age of seven MUST be accompanied by a responsible person 16 years or older and MUST be within arms reach at all times (even if a child is wearing a lifejacket). * Sometimes unforeseen events may lead to some facilities or features being closed.
