August 16, 2022 -- Over the past few years, the City has had the opportunity to realize there was an impact on female hockey players in Cranbrook as a result of the lack of dressing rooms provided to female athletes. This lack of appropriate space for female hockey players has affected the security, dignity and equality of those athletes. This should not have happened. The City of Cranbrook is committed to welcoming and supporting all female athletes at our facilities and has provided appropriate facilities at Western Financial Place as a result. The City is sorry for the impact that the lack of appropriate dressing rooms had on female hockey players and wants to let them know that they are supported and will continue to be supported going forward.
