Cranbrook, BC (April 29, 2024) – Our annual water conservation public education campaign gears up this week, with the City pleased to announce the hiring of Tanya Nadeau as the 2024 Water Ambassador.
The Water Ambassador – an integral part of our water conservation program for well over a decade – helps residents understand the importance of outdoor water conservation while helping you get the most out of the water you use through the summer months. It helps to reduce our costs of treating and transporting water to your home, but it also encourages wise use of our water supply by using only what you need and not overwatering.
After the water-related challenges Cranbrook experienced in the summer of 2023, and the potential challenges on the horizon for 2024, this role is a vital conduit between our residents and business and the City around conservation.
“I am happy to be the Water Ambassador for Cranbrook in 2024,” says Nadeau. “I’m looking forward to learning about water conservation and sharing this information with the residents of the community. This is an important position that enables me to be part of a collective, sustainable linkage that improves the social and environmental needs of Cranbrook.”
New this year is a significant update to our water conservation education program, which was developed in partnership with Wildsight Kimberley-Cranbrook, which Nadeau will be offering to students and teachers in schools around the City through to the end of the school year. The program will focus on promoting the importance of water conservation through education and games.
