Cranbrook, BC (July 27, 2026) – Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services responded to a structure fire on Kootenay Street North at approximately 5:45pm on Sunday July 26, 2026. When firefighters arrived, they found the main structure fully involved, with the fire spreading to a neighbouring building and two vehicles nearby. There were no injuries reported.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock the fire down using a deck gun. The call came in during a shift change, which allowed both the day and night shifts to respond right away with nine firefighters. An additional fourteen firefighters were called in to assist, bringing in extra support during hot temperatures and windy conditions. In total, four firefighting apparatus responded to the scene.
An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is underway.
