Cranbrook, BC (June 24, 2026) -- The BC Government is providing additional support to the City to combat repetitive crime, with an announcement that the City of Cranbrook is now included in the short list of cities added to their provincewide program to tackle chronic property crime and public disorder.

The City is one of 24 hubs in BC now supported by the Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative (ReVOII) and Chronic Property Offending Intervention Initiative (C-POII), that will provide supervision of up to 865 individuals across the province who are identified as repeat offenders through the programs.

As a hub, the City will now have a dedicated coordinator from the Province to oversee case management and supervision, coordination with RCMP, BC Corrections, BC Prosecution Service, and other partners and service providers.

“We thank the BC Government for their ongoing work to strengthen their response to vandalism, theft, and disorder in our community. This is one of several new initiatives that are a result of Council’s positive relationship building with the Province in partnerships to reduce crime in the City,” says Mayor Wayne Price. “This program will manage, organize, oversee, and supervise known repeat violent offenders and chronic property offenders in our community. As a hub, the City now has Provincial support to ensure these offenders do not continue to negatively impact our streets, our downtown core, and our neighbourhoods.”
