Cranbrook, BC (March 3, 2025) – In a move to offer more ice time for public skaters and user groups, Western Financial Place will be opening its ice surface a full month earlier than usual, starting July 2, 2025.
This is part of a pilot project to help meet the growing demand for ice time and to provide even more opportunities for everyone to enjoy the rink. This ice time is open to all user groups including Cranbrook Minor Hockey, the Cranbrook Skating Club along with other local hockey groups around the region.
“It’s the first time we’ve tried offering ice time this early, which comes in response to requests from user groups and the public. We’re excited to be able to offer this to the community to help get our local kids on the ice an entire month earlier than they usually would,” says Brian Millis, Program and Marketing Manager. “We’re looking at organizing some kids 3 on 3 hockey along with some other programming, while also making time available for public skating whether you’re a seasoned skater or just looking to have some fun.”
This early ice availability is only for Western Financial Place. The Memorial Arena will open in early September, with the Kinsmen Arena to open in early October.
