Cranbrook. BC (May 11, 2026) – Cranbrook, in partnership with Active Cranbrook, is stepping up to join communities across Canada in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. Throughout the month of June, residents, groups, schools, local organizations, and community partners are invited to get active, track participation, and help Cranbrook compete for the title of Canada’s Most Active Community—with a chance to win $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.
Here’s the simple challenge: move more, do it together, and make it count for Cranbrook.
How to participate (and help Cranbrook climb the leaderboard)
- Local governments, schools, and organizations: Register your June physical activity and sport programs, events and/or initiatives on ParticipACTION’s website @ participaction.com. Throughout June, track the number of people participating—every participant counts toward Cranbrook’s community total.
- Active groups of two or more: Grab a friend, neighbour, teammate, or co-worker and sign up for the Challenge on ParticipACTION’s website (participaction.com). Your group leader will register your group and track your group’s June activities. Whether you’re walking, biking, swimming, dancing, playing, hiking, or trying something new, your group’s activity counts.
Why join?
Because getting active together supports physical health, boosts mental well-being, strengthens social connection, and builds a more vibrant community. Plus, the more people who participate and get tracked, the stronger Cranbrook’s chance to win funding for future recreation opportunities right here at home.
Join the movement with Active Cranbrook
The City of Cranbrook is proud to work with Active Cranbrook and community partners to rally participation throughout June. Watch for local opportunities to get involved—and if you’re hosting an activity, register it so your participants can help power Cranbrook’s results. Ready to make June count? Register and track your activity at participaction.com.
Active Cranbrook is hosting their first major event in celebration of BC Trails Day on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the trailhead of the NorthStar Rails to Trails from 10am to 2pm, with info booths, refreshments and more. You can learn more about or register for the ParticipACTION Community Challenge as well.
