Cranbrook, BC (January 8, 2024) – The roof repair project at the Memorial Arena is close to moving to the next phase of cutting the beams and installing new foundations, as the assembly of the scaffolding being used to hold up the roof structure is nearly complete.

Staff provided Council with an update on the project at their regular meeting on Monday night (January 8, 2024).

The date to officially start up the ice plant and begin installing the ice sheet at the Kinsmen Arena is still being confirmed.  Both the contractor and the City are determined to have the ice surface in as soon as possible.

The project schedule highlights, which are subject to change, currently look like this:

• January 10, 2024 – BC Hydro Disconnect 
• January 12, 2024 – scaffold completion 
• January 15, 2024 – begin cutting beams and excavation. 
• January 17, 2024 – begin pouring concrete. 
• January 29, 2024 – begin installing structural steel. 

The project remains on schedule for completion in early spring 2024.
