Cranbrook, BC (June 17, 2024) – Summer construction season will move into full swing this week around the City, with a couple of important road projects getting underway.
Gally Equipment Services is digging into the 12th Avenue South reconstruction project beginning today. The street is closed to all traffic between 2nd Street South and 3rd Street South. Gally will be completing a full road, infrastructure, and sidewalk replacement and should be substantially complete by the end of September 2024.
The paving program is also getting underway starting later this week, with the outside lanes of Victoria Avenue to be milled and repaved on Thursday, June 20, 2024, and the repaving of the intersection of 6th Street North and Slater Road/Industrial Road 1 on Friday, June 21, 2024. BA Blacktop will be managing the project.
Only the worst spots of the outside lanes of Victoria Avenue between 2nd Street North and Highway 3/Cranbrook Street will be paved, not the full lengths. Drivers are reminded to please slow down and watch for temporary traffic changes, obey all signage and directions from flaggers as this work is completed.
Paving at the intersection of 6th Street North and Slater Road/Industrial Road 1 on Friday will be challenging, due to high traffic volumes. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible, and please use King Street or 3rd Street NW instead to access the Industrial Park. If you must use this intersection, expect delays as this area will be alternating traffic and flagger controlled. This project may extend into early next week if any issues arise.
The City of Cranbrook gratefully acknowledges the financial contributions of the Canada Community Building Fund (former Gas Tax Fund) toward all these important infrastructure projects.
