Cranbrook, BC (January 4, 2024) – In order to allow for both residents and the City of Cranbrook to take advantage of building outdoor rinks, as temperatures are forecast to drop significantly early next week, the City has moved its water restrictions to Stage 2.
The City has been under mandatory Stage 3 restrictions since late August 2023 due to a significant and serious decline in the amount of water available in the Phillips Reservoir. Levels have improved somewhat, allowing for the move to Stage 2, however snow conditions in the watershed are extremely low compared to what we normally receive.
Water is allowed to be used two days per week, under Stage 2 restrictions. Even numbered properties can use water Monday and Thursday; odd numbered properties can use water Tuesday and Friday from 5am to 10am or 8pm to 11pm. Hoses are allowed to be used provided they are used with a handheld shutoff nozzle.
Every effort to continue to find ways to conserve water indoors and outdoors is a must, and we strongly encourage residents and businesses to keep this in mind as you go about your activities.
