Cranbrook, BC (March 15, 2023) -- Pacific Coastal Airlines announced on March 14, 2023, that they are suspending their service between the Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC) and the Vancouver International Airport South Terminal (YVR) effective April 28, 2023.
Air service between YXC and YVR with Pacific Coastal Airlines is suspended indefinitely due to challenges with shortages of pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers.
Air Canada and WestJet daily services from YXC remain unchanged.
YXC have had the pleasure of working closely with Pacific Coastal since 2003 and since then, have seen the incredible growth of the airline, as well as witnessing the major success of the YXC – YVR route and overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although YXC will be losing two flights, totaling 38 seats daily to and from YVR, we remain a direct link to the rest of the world via Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) with services from WestJet and Air Canada. WestJet continues to offer 8 flights (280 seats) daily to YVR & YYC, and Air Canada with two flights (150 seats) daily to YVR. With the suspension of Pacific Coastal’s service, we are hoping this triggers an increase in flight services from both WestJet and Air Canada.
The City of Cranbrook and the Canadian Rockies International Airport see all these entities as partners in business, which will continue to support the ever-evolving tourism development and marketing for the East Kootenay region. We are hopeful that when the time is right, Pacific Coastal Airlines will return to YXC.
