Cranbrook, BC (October 30, 2023) – With a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain in the forecast overnight Wednesday November 1 into Thursday, November 2, 2023, we remind drivers to reduce speeds and maintain quality winter tires to safely travel this winter.
Our team in Public Works is ready for the winter season with some new tools at the ready, and several new initiatives that will be effective in managing snow and ice conditions with increased service levels seven days per week and during peak snow events.
We’ve retrofitted our large water tanker to also be a plow truck in the winter to help provide additional focus on our priority routes, and it won’t need to refill with sand or brine for an eight-hour period. This will also bring another plow into the mix from four to five.
And our loader mounted snowblower is back for the season, allowing for quicker cleanup of windrows and snow piles downtown.
