Cranbrook, BC (December 12, 2024) – It’s wonderful that we’re all embracing the spirit of gift-giving this holiday season, but the aftermath of packaging, wrapping paper and gift bags can be overwhelming.
Having your curbside recycling cart handy will help you manage the cleanup but remembering what you can place in your cart and what needs to be taken to the Cranbrook Transfer Station can be challenging.
Most of your holiday packaging, paper and envelopes, gift bags and tissue paper can be recycled and left in your curbside cart. Wrapping paper with any glitter, foil, or holographic material, along with ribbons, bows, bubble wrap and foam packaging are not accepted for curbside recycling because of the materials used in those items.
To help you easily sort what goes where, visit our recycling webpage at www.cranbrook.ca/recycling and use our waste wizard. Type in whatever material you have that you want to recycle, and the wizard will tell you how properly dispose of it – whether it’s in your curbside cart or if it must be taken to the Cranbrook Transfer Station.
You can also find your 2025 curbside recycling and garbage pickup dates online. You can download the schedule, or you can get printed copies at City Hall. The full 2025 schedule is also in the Thursday, December 12 edition of the Kootenay Advertiser. You can also sign up to have collection reminders delivered right to your smartphone and never miss another pickup day.
