Cranbrook, BC (September 24, 2024) – Nearly 70 percent of concert goers for Rock the Kootenays 2024 in August came from other areas of BC, outside of Cranbrook with a strong contingent of music fans from Alberta attending the 3-day classic rock festival.
This influx of visitors to Cranbrook from outside the local area provided strong support for many tourism-related businesses like hotels, restaurants, shopping and local camping areas, which was fantastic to see.
Administration provided an event recap report to Council at their regular meeting Monday night, along with feedback from concert goers, vendors and contractors about festival highlights, and more importantly areas where improvements could be made.
“The success of Rock the Kootenays could not have happened without our many local businesses and those who contributed sponsorship and volunteer support to this event. I thank you very much,” says Trevor Thors, Director of Recreation and Culture. “A huge thank you also goes to our staff for their strong efforts to help organize and support Rock the Kootenays. Putting together a festival like this takes an immense amount of work, with staff doing most of the organizing off the corner of their desks while managing their day-to-day activities. This festival could not have happened without them. Thank you!”
3-day passes are on sale now for the 2025 Rock the Kootenays Festival to be held Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10, 2025 at tickets.cranbrook.ca. Acts for the 2025 event will be announced in December, with the daily schedule announced and daily tickets on sale in January 2025.
