Cranbrook, BC (December 28, 2023) – With the lack of snow, users of the ice surface at Idlewild Lake have been chasing pucks and exploring the lake outside of the maintained area.
Public Works with the City of Cranbrook does not monitor ice thickness nor maintain ice surface outside of the designated skating area. Skating outside of the designated area could result in injury or death.
Users are also asked to please not drill or cut holes in the ice surface as this can weaken the ice causing cracks and uneven ice surfaces for users.
Ensuring that all the rules are followed will allow the ice surface at Idlewild to remain open to everyone and ensure the safety of all.
