Over the years many City of Cranbrook residents, businesses and organizations have received recognition for many of their accomplishments on regional, provincial, national and international stages. Mayor and Council and the residents of the City of Cranbrook are proud of these individuals, groups and businesses and wish to showcase these accomplishments and recognitions by listing these accolades below.
In 2014, Cranbrook was awarded the ‘3rd Most Popular BC Community’ behind Victoria (1st) and Courtenay (2nd) by EhCanadaTravel.com, a Canadian online travel guide. In 2013, Cranbrook was rated #53 in ‘Canada’s Best Places to Live’ – ‘Best Cities Overall’ by Moneysense magazine.
JCI Kootenay (Junior Chamber International), a leadership and training organization for young people has recieved a number of accolades since its inception in 2003 including: Convention/ Event of the Year - 2012 National Convention and Chapter of the Year (Regional Awards BC/Yukon). JCI Kootenay has also collected several national awards including Best Training Opportunity - Leadercast and Chapter of the Year.
In 2011, Cranbrook was named one of 64 of the 'Best Old House Neighbourhoods' in North America by the editors of This Old House magazine. Also in 2011, the Cranbrook & District Chamber of Commerce was recognized as the 'Chamber of the Year 2011' by the BC Chamber of Commerce.
The City also boasts a significant number of residents who have excelled at their respective disciplines at the national and international levels.
