Residents using woodstoves to heat their homes through the colder months of the year are asked to please be aware of the venting index before you burn.
Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services is hopeful those with woodstoves monitor the venting index in order to not be a nuisance to your neighbours.
There are people who are sensitive or have allergies to smoke or those who may sleep with windows open – even in the winter months, which means smoke from woodstoves could become a serious issue. Often these types of issues are simply because of an oversight of the people or person using the woodstove.
You are encouraged to monitor the venting index before using a woodstove. This information can be accessed online at https://envistaweb.env.gov.bc.ca/aqo/files/bulletin/venting.html or by calling the Cranbrook Fire Hall at 250-426-2325.
