Cranbrook, BC (April 27, 2023) – Important brush thinning work will be completed along a section of the Rails to Trails in the coming few weeks in partnership with Dogtown Fire & Fuels Management. The thinning work is primarily focused on improving sight lines but will also help reduce the risk of wildfire along the trail.
Work is to be completed in two phases. The first phase will focus on the section of trail from the train bridge over the St. Mary River through to the Wycliffe Park Road parking lot at the entrance to the Shadow Mountain community.
The exact date for this work is still being organized and will be shared with the public well before this project begins.
While this work is being done, this portion of the Rails to Trails will be closed to all public access for the safety of our trail users and the safety of our staff and our contractor.
Signage and information will be posted in the areas being worked on. We will share information through the local media, the City website (www.cranbrook.ca), and the City’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages well before this trail closure.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of the many users of this beautiful trail space while this important project is completed.
