Cranbrook, BC (September 27, 2024) – There will be delays and intermittent closures along 14th Avenue next week as the City and contractors will be removing and marking out alignments for the new intersection design at 14th Avenue and 2nd Street N.
On Tuesday evening, October 1st, a contractor will remove the existing 14th Avenue road lines from Baker Street to 4th Street N as well as the 2nd Street N road lines from Kootenay Street to 16th Avenue N.
After the lines have been removed, the City will be marking out new alignments on Wednesday morning, October 2nd, to repaint the lines for the new four-way stop intersection at 14th Avenue and 2nd Street N. The City will begin work on Wednesday after Mount Baker Secondary starts class to ensure limited interference with school bus schedules.
The public can expect intermittent closures and delays along 14th Avenue and 2nd Street N while the City and contractors remove the old road lines, prepare the alignments, and paint the new lines for the intersection. Please slow down and watch for crews working in the area, making sure to obey any and all posted signage in the area.
