Cranbrook, BC (January 7, 2020) -- A series of recent altercations between dogs and their owners at the Muriel Baxter off-leash dog park has the City of Cranbrook reminding users about the rules in place for both four-legged and two-legged visitors.
For dogs, you must have your vaccinations up-to-date and must be wearing a collar with a valid license tag. You are required to remain on-leash until inside the off-leash area and must be a minimum of four months of age to use the park. If you are showing signs of aggressive behaviour, your owner must remove you from the park immediately.
For people, you must be within the off-leash area, and always keep your dogs in sight and within verbal control, with a leash at the ready if needed. Dog waste must also be cleaned up immediately. Bags are provided at both entrances, but it’s a good idea to bring your own just in case.
You should also be cautious bringing toys and balls to the off-leash dog park. Territorial aggression can occur when other dogs are present.
If we are all aware of and follow the rules in place at the Muriel Baxter off-leash dog park, the better the experience will be for everyone.
