Cranbrook, BC (April 14, 2021) – The concourse at Western Financial Place used for indoor walking during the fall and winter months is closing for season beginning on Friday April 16. Our regular users of the space have been advised of the upcoming closure over the past few weeks.
The closure of the concourse walking is comparable with other arenas in BC, which shut down indoor arena walking in April, and open again in mid-October.
Walking patrons can use the walking track at the College of the Rockies throughout the summer months.
The closure allows arena staff the opportunity to undertake summer maintenance projects without having the added responsibility of working around concourse users, and managing the additional cleaning required.
During the pandemic, our staff have also been busy with patron check-ins and this will allow them to get back to more of their regular duties. The Provincial Health Officer strongly encourages people to be active outside, as walking outdoors is a healthier option during the pandemic.
