Cranbrook, BC (January 16, 2023) – Technicians with Kala Geosciences will be conducting some environmental assessment work, on behalf of the City in the north end of the 8th Avenue South parking lot on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
As a result of this assessment project, the north end of the 8th Avenue South lot will be closed to all vehicle access and parking on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
This assessment will determine if there are buried underground storage tanks at that location, as the site was previously occupied by a large garage, underground tanks and a paint shop for nearly 78 years.
If underground storage tanks are discovered and confirmed, Kala will then contract and supervise the decommissioning, removal and destruction of those tanks.
