Cranbrook, BC (February 15, 2023) – The safety and well-being of our staff working to provide essential services to our residents and businesses in the City of Cranbrook is paramount in our operations.
Garbage collection is one of our core services and requires repetitive and often heavy lifting by our collection team. For safety and to reduce the risk of injury, residents can do a few things to help.
Keeping the area around where you place your garbage containers for collection clear of obstructions or tripping hazards is essential.
You should also ensure that plastic garbage bags are securely closed at the top and strong enough to withstand normal handling and lifting by our collection team. Bags or containers must not weigh more than 20 kilograms (44 lbs.) each. Please remember you are allowed a limit of three garbage receptacles (containers or bags) per week.
We ask that you ensure no loose garbage or open bags are left out on your collection day. In addition, if you must dispose of any animal waste in your household garbage, please make sure that it is contained in proper bags – not grocery bags.
