Cranbrook, BC (January 27, 2022) – Water main breaks and service leaks has kept crews with Public Works hopping the past three weeks, thanks in part to the significant snowfall over the holiday season and challenges with COVID-19.
The water works team has dug up and repaired 5 water main breaks and completed 9 water service leaks to homes since the beginning of the month.
“Our team has worked tirelessly on these repairs, on top of covering for snow removal operations with our depleted staff numbers in Public Works due to COVID,” says Jason Perrault, Public Works Manager for the City. “I am honoured to work with such an amazing team, as they continue to provide outstanding service to the residents of Cranbrook. Great job team!”
Two additional water leak repairs are scheduled to be fixed this week, including one near Amy Woodland Elementary School. This leak will be repaired on Saturday January 29, so it will not impact students and staff and minimize any traffic disruptions. Crews will be onsite from 7:30am until about 7pm to complete the work. Drivers are asked to please slow down through the work area, watch for signage and staff working.
Nearby residents may experience some water service disruptions and some water discolouration once service is restored. Please simply run your cold water tap until your water runs clear.
