Cranbrook, BC (April 7, 2025) – $10,000 in funding from the Province of BC’s Local Government Infrastructure Planning Grant Program awarded in late March 2025 will support ongoing work by City of Cranbrook staff around infrastructure condition assessment for capital planning.
The City, through a resolution of Council applied for this grant in late 2024, which will help cover staff wages to collect important data around infrastructure condition assessments for City parks, water infrastructure and sewer infrastructure.
The City’s recently completed Asset Management Strategy highlighted the need for continuous improvement in asset management. This data collection project will help staff create a prioritized list of assets needing immediate attention based on condition and risk, while helping staff prepare capital plans and preventative maintenance schedules going forward.
The Local Government Infrastructure Planning Grant Program is designed to help local governments in developing well planned community infrastructure that will improve public health and safety, encourage resilient communities and protect the natural environment while strengthening local economies.
