Cranbrook, BC (December 24, 2022) – Residents of 9th Street South, between 9th Avenue South and 11th Avenue South will be without water for a few hours on the afternoon of Christmas Day.
Public Works crews will begin knocking on doors late morning on Christmas Day notifying residents who will be affected by the water repair. Work is to start at about 11am to minimize interruptions to Christmas morning meals. Water will be turned off starting at noon Christmas Day and is expected to be back on by late afternoon.
Those affected are asked to prepare ahead by filling water containers in your home for cooking and drinking, and fill your bathtub so you have water available to flush toilets.
Residents in this area will notice that the water pressure has already been reduced slightly today ahead of the repair work. Once the repairs are completed, water pressure will be restored to normal. Changes in water pressure can often create some discolouration in the water. Please run your cold-water tap until the water runs clear.
Members of our team are forgoing Christmas Day with their families in order to be able to complete this important work, while ensuring minimal interruptions to you. We ask for your patience and kindness to our team.
Meantime, with the snowfall expected through Christmas Eve and into Christmas Day, our roads team will be out working hard clearing our streets.
