Cranbrook, BC (May 4, 2020) – Big changes are expected around the playground at Rotary Park in Cranbrook with the existing pea gravel play surface to be replaced with a new rubberized surface.
The change will increase the overall safety of the children using the playground and will improve the overall appearance. The rubberized surface will also improve the operational needs at Rotary Park, as the pea gravel tended to migrate into the grass and onto the splash pad during the summer months.
The overall project budget is $50,000 including a $20,000 grant provided by Tire Stewardship BC.
Site preparation is expected to begin the first couple weeks of May with the removal of the pea gravel. Public Works crews will then prepare the base and pour a new concrete border, with the new rubberized surface to be installed shortly after the May long weekend.
