Cranbrook, BC (March 9, 2023) – A major shutdown of residential water service is scheduled overnight Tuesday, March 14, 2023, into the morning of Wednesday, March 15, 2023, impacting customers in the south end of Cranbrook.
The area to be affected includes residents living between 11th Street South to 19th Street South from 1st Avenue South through to 22nd Avenue South/Victoria Avenue South.
The shutdown will begin at 8pm MT on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, with water service anticipated to be restored by 8am MT on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Residents are strongly encouraged to take steps to have a supply of water on hand to use for drinking, washing food and brushing teeth and to fill a tub so that water is available to flush toilets, while the work is being done.

Every effort will be made to restore water service to residents as quickly as possible.
Contractors will be replacing the pressure reducing valve (PRV) on our PRV #3 station located on the corner of 14th Avenue South and 17th Street South.
Part of 14th Avenue South will be closed to all traffic between 13th Street South and 14th Street South while this construction is underway. Detours will be in place. Please watch for and follow all signage. Drivers may also notice signage and flaggers in place earlier in the day Tuesday, as crews unload equipment and materials for the construction work.
Once water service is restored, residents and properties impacted by the shutdown will likely have discoloured water. This will also affect Kootenay Orchards School, and likely both Gordon Terrace and Parkland Middle Schools. If you find you have discoloured water, please run your cold-water tap until the water runs clear.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone impacted by this water shutdown. Thank you.
