The Recreation & Culture department promotes healthy lifestyles through the development of quality parks, facilities, recreation and cultural opportunities for the year round use of our citizens. It is the department’s mission to provide and promote parks, open spaces and leisure programming that will enhance active living and the well being of individuals and our community.
Cranbrook offers 28 citywide parks encompassing approximately 160.5 ha (401.5 acres), three indoor arenas, two outdoor rink facilities, a disc golf course, an extensive trail system, and numerous outdoor sports venues including Moir Centennial Athletic Park. The City also has a major multi-purpose facility in Western Financial Place, with an aquatic centre, NHL size ice surface, squash court, restaurant and meeting rooms. Some park amenities include tennis courts, pickleball courts, barbecue pits, slo-pitch and baseball diamonds, soccer fields, picnic facilities, playground equipment, a skate park and two spray parks.
