After 14 years as a Trustee for SD #5 (Southeast Kootenay) representing Cranbrook and Area C, I am seeking re-election in order to continue many of the ongoing initiatives, and, the new challenges that we face as a School District.
I’ve had teaching assignments in Fort Nelson, Port Alberni, and, 28 years in Cranbrook prior to my retirement in June of 2008. I have also been a student-teacher supervisor for the University of Victoria/College of the Rockies Teachers’ Education Program for six years giving me added experience with entry level students becoming professional educators.
I have the reputation as a hard worker and I do my homework on issues. I have an extensive skill set that I bring to the job and years of experience in working to achieve excellence in public education.
There will be challenges facing the School District over the next 4 years. I am confident that we can meet these challenges using the combined resources of parents, school district staff and the larger community. Nobody has all the answers, so I have an obligation, a public trust, to make decisions in a transparent manner.
I’m proud of the progress we’ve made on replacing Mount Baker High School. It remains the challenge ahead to make this vision into a reality by working with the City of Cranbrook and other community partners, including other levels of government, both Regionally and Provincially.
Please vote on October 15 both in Cranbrook and in Area C.
