The City of Cranbrook Parks Department within Public Works maintains 164 hectares of parks, green spaces and manages cemetery operations. The City has two (2) water spray parks, eight (8) playgrounds, nine (9) public washrooms, eleven (11) baseball diamonds, six (6) soccer fields, one (1) football field, six (6) tennis courts, 12 pickleball courts and 10km of Rotary Trail to be maintained.
The parks crew also puts on a flower display each year with the hanging baskets, flower planters and flower/shrub beds. There is also a robust noxious weed program in place, in partnership with the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK).
City Hall, our arenas, the Public Works yard, fire station and numerous small public buildings are maintained by Public Works personnel, directly and by contract, providing janitorial services, security, heat/ventilation/air conditioning services, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, roofing, flooring, lighting, glazing, graffiti removal and vandalism repairs.
