The parks crew also puts on a flower display each year with the hanging baskets, flower planters and flower/shrub beds. There is also a robust noxious weed program in place, in partnership with the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK).
City Hall, our arenas, the Public Works yard, fire station and numerous small public buildings are maintained by Public Works personnel, directly and by contract, providing janitorial services, security, heat/ventilation/air conditioning services, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, roofing, flooring, lighting, glazing, graffiti removal and vandalism repairs.
During the summer months, a crew of 15 students is brought on to maintain the large area of parks, playfields and green space in the community, including the Muriel Baxter Off-Leash dog park.
