Cranbrook, BC (November 22, 2022) – Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services responded to a structure fire at the former Knight’s Hall located at 414 King Street West Tuesday afternoon (November 22).
Fire and Emergency Services was required to rescue two occupants from the third story. One patient was taken to hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation injuries.
Red Cross Emergency Services Support (ESS) volunteers through the East Kootenay Emergency Management Program (EKEMP) is providing support to the 24 tenants who have been displaced due to this afternoon’s fire.
An investigation in to the cause of the fire will begin on Wednesday morning.
Those individuals requiring immediate accommodation or support are asked to register with ESS at the Reception Center, which is located at the Sandman Inn on Cranbrook Street, before 7:30pm tonight.
Those requiring accommodation or support after 7:30pm are asked to call 1-888-800-6493.
Self-registration for those who do not require immediate support can be done online at https://era-evacuees.embc.gov.bc.ca. Affected residents are asked to register even if they do not require any support.
Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services is grateful for the support from many other City departments and local agencies including the Cranbrook RCMP, the BC Ambulance Service, the East Kootenay Emergency Management Program, Canadian Red Cross, and the City’s Public Works department.
