Stick to the Knitting!
Over the years that I have lived in Cranbrook, I have had the opportunity to take part in a variety of community roles, both as a leader and as a board member. Currently, I am on two non-profit boards and have recently ended a three-year term as Area Governor for Rotary International.
If elected, I see my role as a Cranbrook City Councilor primarily to act in the best interests of the property taxpayers and for the rest of the people who call Cranbrook their home.
Years ago, during a training session for the non-profit of which I was a part, the trainer emphasized that the main goal of any board member was to “protect the interests of the organization and those it serves.” This explanation has guided me over the years in a variety of ways.
To “Stick to the Knitting” my goal as a City Councilor is to:
1) Promote growth – Cranbrook should continue to look for ways to attract people, their families and businesses who want to thrive here.
2) Help city staff to manage Cranbrook’s Municipal priorities so that all taxpayers, citizens, and visitors are confident that they are safe, healthy, and proud of their community and leadership.
3) Wisely guide our city management in best practices so that they proudly find the ways and means to minimally stay within the budget and ideally find ways to lower property taxes.
I believe these values will be useful to enhance Cranbrook’s vitality!
