Candidate for Re-election | School Trustee, School District 5 (Southeast Kootenay)

Born and raised in Cranbrook, I have dedicated more than four decades to public education. Beginning as a teacher in 1982, I subsequently served in school administration and district leadership before becoming a school trustee in 2014. I have served as Board Chairperson for the past four years.
Our Board has navigated significant challenges, including COVID-19, the loss of Amy Woodland Elementary School, student relocations, school construction and expanded childcare facilities. Throughout these challenges, my focus has remained on students, responsible governance and collaboration.
The work is not finished. My priorities include securing adequate provincial funding, replacing aging school facilities, supporting students with diverse learning needs, and ensuring safe, inclusive learning environments throughout Southeast Kootenay.
Community involvement remains important to me. For the past two years, I have helped deliver school lunches through the Salvation Army's student meals program, sometimes using my motorcycle and trailer.
I believe effective trustees listen, work collaboratively, make thoughtful decisions and advocate strongly for students, families and communities.
On October 17, I respectfully ask for your continued support and the opportunity to continue serving the students of School District 5.
