Cranbook
I’m Tasy Strouzas, and I’m running for School Trustee in SD5 to represent the students, families and communities of Cranbrook and Area C.
I’ve been involved in community governance for many years, including serving as Chair of the Cranbrook Public Library Board. I’ve spent nearly 10 years on the Library Board across several terms, and I know the challenge of trying to provide community services with limited funding. It has taught me the importance of being creative, responsible and thoughtful with public resources. Most importantly, it has taught me the importance of collaborating with the staff who do the hard work day in and day out.
Professionally, I work in HR for an Indigenous child and family organization. My work involves supporting employees, developing policy, navigating complex issues and helping create workplaces where people can feel respected, supported and included. Through my work, I’ve seen firsthand how hard people work to support others, often in challenging circumstances. I believe this is just as true in our schools. Supporting students also means supporting the teachers, EAs, support staff and other professionals who work with them every day.
I am also an autistic adult. I understand the pain and frustration neurodivergent students feel when they live in a world that wasn’t designed with them in mind. I want to bring a neurodivergent perspective to the board table to help ensure that students who learn, communicate, and experience school differently are heard.
All students deserve to feel that they belong, that they are supported, and that their voices matter.
